FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is a look?
A "look" denotes the number of outfits you’d like to be photographed wearing during your headshot session. Small adjustments such as adding glasses or a layer are fine, however changes to facial hair are not included. If you normally wear glasses or wish to include them in your shoot, please buy a pair of lenseless frames. It's extremely difficult to prevent glare during a headshot session.
When will I get my photos?
Proofs are processed and provided within 1-2 weeks of the shoot date depending on the shoot scale. You will receive minimum 30-40 photos per look with basic color and exposure corrections. I provide you with a link to a digital album from which you can easily download all of your pics. Retouches are likewise provided within 1-2 weeks of making your selections, depending on quantity. Retouched photos include evening skin, softening under-eyes, softening fine lines, removing blemishes, cleaning up fly-aways, whitening teeth, brightening/whitening eyes, etc. Each package includes two retouched photos of your choice. Additional retouches are available for $25/photo. All retouches are provided by me. In a rush? Expedited 2 day processing is available for a nominal fee. See pricing for details.
Do I need hair/makeup?
The short answer is yes. Your headshot should be an accurate representation of how you look in person. I suggest treating your headshot session like you would any important interview or audition. Look your best, but not as though you're modeling for Vogue. Hair and makeup styling is not provided, and should be done before arriving to your shoot. I recommend natural beauty makeup, and at minimum foundation for both men and women to even skin tone. Ladies, I encourage using a blowout service before your session. I do not offer reshoots for dissatisfaction with hair/makeup, so please allow yourself enough time for styling. Please schedule hair cuts, color treatments, root touchups, etc. far enough prior to your shoot.
What should I wear?
You should be the focus of your headshot, so avoid bold or distracting patterns and jewelry. Muted tones and layers photograph best, and consider complementary colors to your skin tone. Please press your clothing before your shoot to avoid wrinkles. Consider what characters you generally go out for and aim for a similar feel- again as you might for an audition. I encourage you to bring additional options with you to your shoot. If you have representation, it's a good idea to consult with them for wardrobe recommendations.
Can I bring people with me?
It's essential that you're able to focus and relax during your headshot session, so all shoots are closed to family/friends.
How long will my shoot take?
Shoot length depends on the number of looks, but generally 1-2 hours. It's best to book out the day of your shoot to give yourself enough time before and after. Please arrive on time for your appointment, as there may be another session scheduled after yours.
